Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit manuscripts to the Journal of Clinical Evidence and Outcomes Research (JCEOR) after a careful preparation. The following guidelines are beneficial for the efficient editorial and peer-review process.

General Requirements

Manuscripts must be written in clear, professional English.
Research must be original and unpublished.
Manuscripts must not be under consideration by another journal.
All authors must approve the submitted manuscript.
Necessary ethical approvals must be obtained before conducting the research.
All sources must be appropriately cited.
Funding and conflicts of interest must be disclosed.

Manuscript Structure

There are multiple elements that should be included in a manuscript, which typically include:

Title → Author Information → Abstract → Keywords → Introduction → Materials and Methods → Results → Discussion → Conclusion → Acknowledgements → Funding Statement → Conflict of Interest → Data Availability Statement → Author Contributions → References

This may vary based on the article type.

Abstract

Original research articles should preferably use a structured abstract covering Background, Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.

Keywords

The authors are asked to supply 3-6 suitable keywords.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively and cited in the text.
Each should have a clear title or caption.
Authors should obtain permission for copyrighted material where necessary.
As a general guideline, manuscripts should contain no more than 6 combined tables and figures, unless additional items are scientifically necessary.

References

References should be accurate, complete, and consistently formatted. JCEOR generally recommends the Vancouver style.

Reporting Guidelines

Authors should follow relevant reporting guidelines, including:

CONSORT – Randomized controlled trials
STROBE – Observational studies
PRISMA – Systematic reviews
STARD – Diagnostic accuracy studies
CARE – Case reports
ARRIVE – Animal research
SAGER – Sex and gender considerations

Checklists that are relevant to the submission may be requested.

Trial Registration

If applicable, clinical trials should be registered in a public clinical trials registry. The registration name and registration number should be included by the authors in the manuscript.

Human and Animal Ethics

All research involving humans or animals and should be conducted in accordance with the applicable ethical standards and must be approved by an appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board, as required.

The ethical approval information should be explicitly indicated in the manuscript.

Patient Consent

Each case report with patient information that is identifiable for the patient must be accompanied by written informed consent for publication. Patient data should be anonymised as far as possible.

Authorship and CRediT Contributions

Authors should be responsible for contributions to the research and manuscript. The final version of the article should be approved by all the authors and all of them should be responsible for the article.

Authors are encouraged to use the CRediT taxonomy to present individual contributions, if applicable. Changes in the authorship after submission must be justified and approved by all affected authors.

Data Availability

Authors should include a Data Availability Statement, explaining whether research data are publicly available, available upon reasonable request, restricted for ethical or legal reasons, or not applicable.

Preprint Policy

Manuscripts which have been previously submitted to a recognized preprint server may be considered by JCEOR. The authors should provide an indication of the preprint when submitting, and provide a link to the preprint with the final published article if possible.

AI Use Disclosure

When using tools for writing that include AI, authors still need to ensure the accuracy and integrity of content in their manuscripts. AI cannot be included as an author.

If AI is used to a significant degree in content creation, data analysis, an image, or any other type of research, the use of AI should be noted. All AI generated content must be checked for accuracy by the author(s) prior to submission.

Plagiarism and Image Manipulation

Manuscripts should be original and plagiarism, fabrication, falsification and duplicate publication will not be tolerated. Plagiarism-detection software may be used by JCEOR.

Images should not be edited in a manner that misrepresents the results of research. Any image processing permitted shall be appropriately disclosed.

Conflicts of Interest

The authors have to state any relevant financial or non-financial conflicts of interest.

Funding Disclosure

Any financial support of any kind must be indicated, including any information on grants if applicable.

If the author(s) have not received specific funding, he/she should state:

Funding: This research received no specific funding from any public, commercial, or not-for-profit organization.

Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions

JCEOR will ensure that a proper scholarly record is maintained. Corrections will be made for major errors that do not compromise the research. When there are serious concerns that need further investigation, they may be published as an Expression of Concern. Articles can be retracted if there are concerns about the reliability of the findings or serious ethical concerns.

Final Checklist Prior to Submission

Authors should ensure that they check before they submit:

The manuscript is original and not under consideration elsewhere.
All authors have approved the submission.
Ethical approvals and patient consent have been obtained where required.
Relevant reporting guidelines have been followed.
Trial registration details are included where applicable.
Authorship and CRediT contributions are accurate.
Data availability, funding, and conflicts of interest are disclosed.
Tables, figures, and references are correctly formatted.
Plagiarism and inappropriate image manipulation have been avoided.
AI use has been disclosed where applicable.
